Report & Recommendations following the meeting on 22 March 2021
In its 8th meeting the HLG on Trade Policy Innovation discussed the recently concluded Trade and Cooperation Agreement with the United Kingdom. It finds that this TCA leaves much uncertainty for its implementation and that a lot of effort will be needed to ensure smooth trade relations across the North Sea and the Irish Sea.
It proposes a number of possible actions. Its recommendations include a specific (belated) effort to counter the anti-EU propaganda in the UK in order to improve goodwill during negotiations.
