Report - Food Autonomy of Africa through Structural Reforms

On 26 April 2023, the independent tripartite High Level Group on Africa Europe Partnership continued its role as a laboratory for EU policy innovation, for its 10th meeting chaired by Mamphela Ramphele, former director at the World Bank, Co-President of the Club of Rome.

They expressed comments and recommendations on:

  1. Transforming the Food System: A Holistic Approach for a Sustainable Future in Africa;

  2. Preserving Africa's Rainforests: A Global Imperative for Sustainable Development;

  3. Infrastructure and Logistics – Key Factors in Transforming African Agriculture;

  4. Unlocking Africa's Potential: Overcoming Investment Challenges for Sustainable Innovation;

  5. Promoting Accountability and Security for a Sustainable Future in Africa;

  6. Rethinking European-African Relations: Addressing Neo-Colonialism and Embracing Collaboration.

For more than ten years now, the working method has aimed for an ‘open innovation’ approach between governments, business and academia, to inject innovative policy ideas into the EU system. It results from an initiative in the Competitiveness Council.
